When does the hackathon start?
The Unicornia Global Startup Funding Hackathon starts on 10 November 2026. The six-month programme runs online on Unicornia, with an offline final. Final city and event dates will be confirmed.
How does the 2% founder invitation reward work?
Share your special hackathon invitation link. If the invited founder creates a new startup on Unicornia after using that link, registers that startup and wins a verified UNIC prize, you can claim an additional bonus equal to 2% of the awarded UNIC. The winner keeps their full prize. This is a separate referral bonus, not a deduction from the 10 crore UNIC prize pool. Self-referrals, same-team referrals and duplicate claims are excluded. Non-UNIC benefits such as accommodation have no referral cash value.
Can I start solo and find teammates later?
Yes. Register your idea as an individual, then use the Find your people channel to meet collaborators. Share your skills, availability and the role you need. Agree on responsibilities before building together; a chat introduction does not assign startup membership or equity.
Do I need a finished product or pitch deck to register?
No. A short description of your idea is enough to start. A project link is optional. The build guides on this page suggest useful evidence to collect as you progress; official milestone and award requirements will be published before the programme begins.
How much funding unlocks each month?
The planned global pool release is Month 1: 50 lakh UNIC; Month 2: 80 lakh; Month 3: 1.2 crore; Month 4: 1.5 crore; Month 5: 2 crore; Month 6: 4 crore. This totals 10 crore UNIC. Each monthly window is split 10% equity-free and 90% equity-linked. These are pool allocations, not guaranteed amounts for every team; final release and award terms are pending.
Can I find a cofounder or join a team here?
Yes. Start in the Find your people community channel to introduce yourself, share your skills, post what you are building and meet potential cofounders or collaborators. Individuals, students and existing teams are welcome. Community introductions do not automatically create a company partnership or legal equity agreement.
Can I join with just an idea?
Yes. Idea-stage teams, students, builders and founders with prototypes or MVPs can register. You do not need an incorporated company just to register. Everyone is welcome to join. Investment eligibility and award terms will be published before the programme begins.
Is the funding pool cash?
The pool is 10 crore UNIC platform credits: 1 crore equity-free awards and 9 crore equity-linked support. At the current ₹1 = 10 UNIC top-up rate, that is ₹1 crore equivalent. Credits are for eligible platform services and cannot be withdrawn directly as INR or USD.
Do I give up equity when I register?
No. Registration does not transfer ownership or commit you to an investment. Actual legal equity participation requires separate agreements, a verified ownership record and applicable legal issuance steps. A platform entry alone does not create legal company shares.
When and where is the offline final?
The offline final is planned for Month 6, with free accommodation arranged by the organizers for invited finalists. Travel-cost coverage is also planned. Final city, dates, number of nights, booking process and coverage rules will be confirmed with finalist invitations. UNIC awards are platform credits; accommodation and travel are separately arranged event benefits.
Can I register from outside India?
Yes. The programme is focused on India with outreach to the US, Canada and other markets. Country-specific participation, service availability and investment eligibility will be confirmed in the final programme rules.
What happens after early registration?
Your registration is saved to your Unicornia account. It records your interest and startup idea; everyone is welcome to participate. Funding and finalist travel depend on the published award terms. The programme starts on 10 November 2026. Milestone criteria, eligible service packages and final terms will be announced before the cohort starts.
